Stripes: The trend that never goes out of style

From Queen Victoria dressing her son in a sailor outfit ready to board the Royal Yacht in 1846, and the well-known stripes of full-body swimwearto the striped shirts of the Royal Navy –this patternhas always played a big part in our rich British heritage. And, thankfully, it’s a trend that is set to continue across the board for adults and children, alike. It’s not going anywhere – don’t worry!

So where did it all begin?

Coco Chanel was the first to bring stripes to a catwalk at the beginning of the 20th century after a trip to the French Rivera. And now, many years later a whole host of designers have since followed in her footsteps – including some of our favourite children’s designers here at OD’s Designer Clothing.

So how have some of these favourite children’s designers featured stripes in their collections? We share our take on the collections below.Image result for Stripes: The trend that never goes out of style

A refreshing use of stripes from Kenzo

Bright and bold prints are widespread throughout the Kenzo Kid’s collection this Spring/Summer. With daring Tiger prints across t-shirts complimented with pink pastels and yellows, this collection offers a lovely transition from spring into summer.

However, the stripes used amongst this collection are a daring and edgy take on their logo. With neon pink making a consistent appearance, your kids can take the classic stripe trend and make it their own. The girl’s Kenzo logo dress is the perfect example of this trend in action.

Keeping it nautical with Hugo Boss for Kids

Since 1924, Hugo Boss has created clothing with a strong yet simplistic design and their collection for Spring/Summer 2017 kids clothing is no different. With a classic nautical theme through the board shorts, polo shirts and t-shirt items, Boss has captured a young and sophisticated vibe with the playful use of subtle patterns, particularly on this blue, green and white boys Boss polo shirt.

The delicate detailing in their shirts coupled with the classic logo t-shirts is what makes the kid’s brand so enticing!

Not into stripes?

Not every kid wants to conform to the stripe trend sweeping the nation. If stripes aren’t for your child, head over to the Philipp Plein collection. These collections have been described as hard-edged decadence and the ‘originals’ collection we have here at OD’s Designer Clothing features intricate skull designs that are nothing short of beautiful! Take a look at the Philipp Plein collection here.
